Together Through PCOS

What is PCOS?

PCOS is a hormonal condition that also affects your metabolism. Research shows that most women who are diagnosed with PCOS have an underlying problem with processing insulin, the hormone that helps your body store and use carbohydrates as energy.

Common Symptoms

Acne

  • Like most women, at some point in your life, you will have experienced acne. And always at the worst possible time. The day of your Matric dance, the morning of your wedding, or just before that interview for a glamorous new job. Usually striking around puberty, it can continue into early adulthood.

Weight Gain

  • Frowning in the mirror. Sighing even before you step on the scales. And that deep painful pang you get in the morning, where you just want the world to go away. Maybe you wish you could just crawl back in bed because you just can’t see yourself facing today. Maybe you wonder what’s wrong with you. Maybe you feel all alone. But here’s the thing. You might not be.

Hirsutism

  • Is there anything more monumental for a couple than having a baby? No. Not even the wedding day or those eventual milestones when Baby starts growing up can compare to the pregnancy and the birth – officially starting a family.

Irregular Periods

  • All sorts of things can play havoc with your periods – stress, diet, and too much exercise just for a start. And, for most women, a missed period is an occasional event. But there’s a new reason to believe that chronic menstrual irregularities – infrequent, very heavy or absent periods – is linked to PCOS

Infertility

  • Is there anything more monumental for a couple than having a baby? No. Not even the wedding day or those eventual milestones when Baby starts growing up can compare to the pregnancy and the birth – officially starting a family.
